![]() The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.įor printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.įor PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. I strongly suspect the dev would be better off ditching this mechanic as part of improving grind. These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. There mostly aren't graphics for different colors of parasite on NPCs anyway, probably because that'd be a lot of recoloring and inflation of the game's filesize. I was already dealing with enough tedium without delving deep into that mess. There's also a mechanic for changing parasite colors which is implied to have some kind of effect, but like fuck did I ever begin to figure out how or why. Chapters 4 and 5 either don't have a stopping point or don't provide any guidance for what the end goal is, and have similar grind issues to later Chapter 2. Apparently the most important thing to have crafted by the end of Chapter 2 is living parasite suits for every named NPC, which require 10 parasites each (not necessarily the basic type either!) and a long wait for each one to mature (why can't we just order our fully controlled NPCs to show up at the laboratory when needed?)Ĭhapter 3 bugged out for me and was only completable by skipping to Chapter 3 directly from the starting screen. It's even more beyond me why you have to click once for every parasite you make in the crafting bits, when you could well need to craft 5, 10, 50, or more at a time. It's beyond me why making a tentacle pit, which narratively produces a fuckton of parasites, can't obsolete the parasite farming issue for you. ![]() It's also needlessly grindy, as you will spend a lot of time clicking to farm parasites from infested characters in order to turn them into more complicated parasites or throw them into resource sinks like the mall tentacle pits. ![]() ![]() Unfortunately, playing too far into Chapter 2 and beyond becomes increasingly buggy with some content inaccessible or throwing error messages. The art is pretty good, and the scene text pretty erotic if you're into this game's parasite-based mind control theme. In fact, perusing the discussion thread shows there used to be more content back when the game was made in Flash and not HTML. I don't know why it's marked as complete. ![]() Most importantly, this game is NOT COMPLETE. ![]()
